A Move Toward Hope

We have officially purchased the former

Lake Center Christian School

located at 1116 Woodland Street SW

Our New Building

Love Our Community is passionate about connecting neighbors, raising awareness of the community’s needs, cultivating relationships, building trust, and restoring hope. This motivation will be embodied by a physical home at the former Lake Center Christian School in Hartville.

Proposed Programs and Services

The initial programs and services planned for the building will be implemented as soon as we can renovate to the necessary requirements. The building will be open to those with something to give, and those with something in need. Programs and services will include:

  • Unique anchor-family model (one committed family living in and facilitating the building)

  • Housing for those experiencing housing insecurities

  • Supportive health services

  • Community meals

  • Job training location

  • Café to address hunger insecurities in school-age children

  • Programs for senior citizens

  • Evidence-based Parent Cafés

  • Industrial kitchen space for community meals

  • Gathering space for large events

  • Clothing closet for emergency needs

  • Laundry facility

  • Partnership with other non-profits

  • Gymnasium

The Impact

Our ultimate goal is to create connected community that transforms individuals into confident, resilient, and contributing members of society. This move will build on the success we have already had, and allow us to provide the space for our entire community to transform through relationship. Transformation, for us, includes significantly reduced levels of homelessness, hunger, and isolation in Lake Township. Housing stability, food security, and household income will rise. The community will have higher levels of citizen engagement, and a stronger sense of connection.
